The title of this post is blatantly stolen from an email sent to me yesterday by my friend Alita, who apparently can't decide what her web page is going to be about. Last fall it was about squirrels; last week it was about something else, and now it seems to be about German history, except that it's not yet about German history, it's just planning on being about that.
The eventual Point of this post is to say that I'm not having a very good week with rice. First there was the burned-pot thing, and the pot is still not clean. I got quite a lot of it off with baking soda, and then tonight I used steel wool (on the advice of the aforementioned friend Alita through the medium of the aforementioned entitled email), which got quite a bit more off. There are still some black spots, so I think I'll just wait until tomorrow and ask my landlord for advice. It's his pot anyway.
When I used the rice cooker to make rice, I thought, "Oh heck, I'll just make more than I need right now and have left-overs." I made quite a bit more rice than I had intended, and it turned out that I only had enough chili left for three servings. There would still be a lot of rice after those three servings were gone.
So I'm trying to eat up rice. There's one more serving of chili left, and I made fried rice tonight (with eggs, ginger, peas, corn, onion, and lots of soy sauce), so I guess there are only about three servings of rice left to account for.
