I really should have been in bed more than an hour ago, but I don't want to let go of what has really been quite a good day. In fact, the past couple of days have been pretty good, especially since Wednesday was crap. Wednesday I had a fever, had a long school day, and [...]

Lindskold, Through Wolf’s Eyes
I picked up this book at the ALISS booksale at the end of last week. I had never heard of the author before but thought it looked interesting. My verdict is that it's a decent book but probably not one whose sequel I care to read or that I will keep on my shelf.

Professional studenthood?
The UW has a problem with over-enrollment. (This is essentially a financial problem, since they have 1,542 students more than the state pays for.) Their solution? Make people graduate. Students with more than 210 credits will have to file plans to graduate within a year. (An undergraduate degree is 180 credits.)

Preservation microfilming
I've already complained about my preservation and conservation class. I ended up making a 75 out of 100 on a test, which is probably the worst I've ever done on a test, but it's not bad to put me in danger of failing or anything. One annoying thing was that even on the questions where [...]

Geek-weaving
Whee, I have threads! (The problem? The documentation had a typo when I created the new columns in my database, and I didn't see that it had been corrected until I emailed the plugin's author, and he told me.)

Tweak tweak tweak
I've spent this evening tweaking my blog archives in various small and mostly-unnoticeable ways. Individual, daily, monthly, and category archives now have navigation bars on the side that lead to related archive locations. Monthly and daily archives are sorted in ascending order. Longer archive pages (monthly and category) don't show comments. Monthly archives show just [...]

Scream the meme
Jeremy Zawodny wrote an entry about The 10 Habits of Highly Annoying Bloggers (via Burningbird). I agree with his list, and I don't think I'm guilty of those sins, even the most-insidious lack-of-original-content traps. I don't have an About me page (#5 on Jeremy's list) on this site, though I do have one on my [...]

Life after grad school
So, I've been thinking about where I want to go with this spiffy MLIS degree once I get it. Of course a job in the corporate sphere, with a title like Information Technology Specialist, would get me more money, but I identify more with the title of Librarian. As long as I can send my [...]
