This is going to be a slightly brief, sum-up entry, because I haven't got too much time today. I would have written earlier this week, but I didn't have time then either. I was too busy with school and work and keeping Jeff sane to write anything at all this week, although I was tempted to write about my comp sci class. I think that will have to wait.
Yesterday was St. Bunstable's yearly event, Tacky Tourney. (Jeff likes to describe it as everything the SCA was never meant to be.
This year's theme was Lord of the Rings.) Jeff was autocrating it, so I ended up running around with him, making a board and rings for the ring toss, scrounging up a stove to cook hamburgers, and buying food. The event could have been huger and more exciting, but I don't think I was actually up to much more than the talking and sitting that went on. There was nice company, and that was about right.
Today Jeff and I went to hurling practice for the first time in several weeks. I was a bit out of practice (ha! as if I were ever in practice), but in scrimmaging, I managed to help my team by making a nuisance of myself to the other side. It's a good use of my little-sister skills. I ended up taking quite a few hits from the ball, on the shoulder, knee, stomach, and crotch. It probably wasn't too intelligent to stand in front of Fiach when he was trying to hit the ball into the goal, but I blocked the ball with my stomach and got it clear before collapsing on the sidelines. And of course I'm chuffed that I, out of all these burly men, am the only one who can bounce the sliothar off my crotch and not fall down.
Lori says:
"Everything the SCA was never meant to be?" That sounds like a lot of fun! :-)
Hope y'all had a good time.
