Thanksgiving was extremely pleasant; it would have been much better if I hadn't been so brain-dead and frazzled about Everything. I didn't fly to Texas for the weekend, thank heavens. Wednesday I had neither work nor class but spent the day at UW working on various projects, including one which was due Saturday. Unfortunately I discovered later that night that I had left most of my photocopies in the library...
Jeff and I drove to Olympia early on Thursday morning, thus bypassing traffic, and started making pumpkin pie soon after we got there. When we were done, Jeff's brother Jim made a pumpkin cheesecake, and then Jeff's mother Julie started cooking the lamb. Towards evening, family friends arrived, and we ate dinner. Because of the non-traditional food and the different flow of people, it didn't feel much like Thanksgiving to me, but that's meant more as an observation than a critiicsm. I'm not terribly attached to Thanksgiving anyway. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and I'm glad that I didn't have to travel several thousand miles for it.
Due to my idiocy, I had to visit a library again before Saturday, and unfortunately none of the libraries in Olympia were open. Jeff and I had to head back to Seattle on Friday afternoon, which unfortunately meant that we missed both his mother's cooking (she tried to bribe us with mushroom risotto, I think) and a couple of Jeff's old and dear friends whom he hadn't seen for ages. I feel really bad about that, and I wish there were something I could have done about it, some way I could make it all work. But I got my assignment done and turned in, and I guess that's the best I can hope for.
