I've been getting more spam recently (for the drug that begins with a V and the one that begins with a C), so I've closed comments for all posts older than 30 days. I regret that this shuts off legitimate comments too, but comments on old posts are even more rare than comments on [...]

Hardware adventures, or, Some things are too good not to blog
Yesterday morning I stuck a Death Cab for Cutie CD in my work computer's CD drive and listened to it for most of the day. Apparently the computer liked it too, because when I tried to eject it and take it home, it would most emphatically not eject. After some heated combat I retreated to [...]

Beautiful food
Dinner last Saturday was chicken with potatoes and mushrooms, spinach (creamed or raw, according to preference), and fresh bread (store-bought, unfortunately). It was quite picturesque.
The reason I didn’t post this picture earlier was that I was waiting until I figured out how to make Linux work with my camera. I had tried a few weeks [...]

Sleep is good
Jeff wasn't home when I arrived from work at 6pm, so I lay down for a nap and didn't wake up until he came back three hours later. This is good, because I obviously needed it. It's also bad, because now I can't get back to sleep! The past two days have been especially hard, because [...]

Bloody idiocy
Somehow, knowing that I'm being an idiot doesn't help me stop being an idiot. It's not logical, but then it's one of those very touchy-feely idiocies that doesn't respond well to logic.

We’re not in Madrone any more
Last weekend Jeff and I went to an event in Stromgard, which is in Washington but much closer to Portland than to Seattle. It's also a fairly rural area, which gave it a very different feel from Madrone events. It was... interesting. I attended two classes, one on tourney cooking (by Anne-Marie, recently Baroness of Madrone) [...]

Frigging Monday
I've been at work for just over an hour, awake for just over 3 hours, and already today is pretty dismal. There's nothing quite like coming in on a Monday morning and discovering that I've buggered something up royally the week before.

Supermatic
This is my beautiful Elna Supermatic sewing machine. A few weeks ago I took her in for a tune-up, and boy, it was worth the $140. Quality machines like that will run forever if you take care of them.
The real point of this post is: Lookee, pretty picture!

Photoblog
Introducing a new category: Photoblog! Note 2005.10.02: The Photoblog category has been removed in favor of Flickr for collocating photos. A few pics of my home, on a typical rainy day in Seattle: I like my camera. It has a knack for good photos.

Digistuff
Ladies and gentlemen, I present the first photo ever taken with my lovely new Canon PowerShot A80. You know, it could be a lot worse, and I think it is due solely to the virtues of my camera that the photo as good as it is.
