I quite often find myself hairing across the library to look near a relevantish book I've found in the catalogue; but that only works on the Open Access Shelves; of course. <acronym>OTOH</acronym> I'd never heard of the term 'Call Number' before, but then the UL calls them 'classmarks', so... Oh, so much how I'd like that facility at the UL.
