Wow! What a story. Glad to hear that all is well! The pictures are stunning, but definitely not worth your risking life and limb to take them.... :)

Ha! Thanks for your vote of confidence, Kris, but I assure you that it is in no way deserved. It was pretty dumb of me to be unprepared for the terrain (I didn't know beforehand what it would be like, and I should have found out), so I was really just lucky.

Of course, I now know a lot more about hiking (and climbing) than I did last Friday. I don't intend to repeat that slide again.

Credit for the photos goes to my digital camera, which almost always picks the right settings with no intervention from me. I couldn't operate an analog camera to save my life.

Wow -- I hadn't read the whole thing until today (school's out!). I am glad you knew what to do and that you are ok! It sounds like that was pretty scary.

Your photos are beautiful.

Your pics are breath taking - I would risk some limbs to see it myself :)

I use a wonderful book to find out trail terrain and difficulty - it is called Foghorn Outdoors Pacific Northwest Hiking - it is great! If you haven't already you should take a look at it :)
