Queen Anne adventure

I had a small adventure on Queen Anne today. I had an appointment for a hair cut at a little place on the top of Queen Anne, which is a pain to get to by bus from where I live. However, this was the only appointment I could get on short notice, and Jeff is working today. So it was the bus for me.

One can get from my domicile to Queen Anne by bus with fairly little walking, but that means going downtown and then transferring, and I didn't feel like doing that. Instead I got off the bus on Aurora and climbed up the hill. This Google Map shows approximately where I got off the bus, though it's hard to see where I walked on the satellite view. The sections of Galer are linked by staircases, all the way from Aurora to Queen Anne Ave. It was a good hike, although I had to rest once on the way up because I started feeling just the slightest bit faint. I figured it wasn't a good idea to test myself too much, so soon after giving blood.

On Galer I ran into a couple of guys who wanted to get to Broadway. Broadway, on foot from Queen Anne! (For the non-Seattleites among you, Broadway is on Capitol Hill, I'd guess a couple of miles from where these guys were. It's a rather long way to walk in-city.) Of course, since I'm a librarian, I had a map with me and was able to show them the best way to get over there, including the best path over I-5.

Nancy's Sewing Basket had a sale sign in their window, but I managed to pass by without even going in. It helped that I was on the other side of the street.

The haircut was nice. I'm not sure that the haircut is the best I've ever had, but the woman was very nice (her name's Yulia, and she's originally from Bulgaria although she has been in Seattle for a few years). It's kind of too bad that I might move away from Seattle pretty soon.

I walked back to the bus in the other direction, so that I didn't pass by Nancy's again.

On the bus homeward, I opened my purse to retrieve my bus transfer and found the ATM card that I had lost more than a month ago. It was in my wallet the whole time, just in a different pocket. I feel pretty stupid, though it's somewhat of a relief that it wasn't ever out of my possession. I'm not used to being the kind of person who loses things (which is why I freak out when it does happen).

If you went to the Queen Anne area did you atleast go to Hilltop Yarns? That was the only place I went to in Seattle during my recent house-hunting trip. Hey.... I've got priorities!

No, I didn't go to any yarn shops either. Just the haircut.

My preferred yarn shop is Weaving Works in the University District. It's much easier for me to get to from where I live. I haven't been there for ages either. I'm on a tight budget right now and for some reason have not been knitting very much lately.

I know, my priorities are all screwed up.
