The front-door buzzer went off in our apartment late this afternoon while I was browning the meat for boeuf bourguignon. I've been freecycling lots of stuff this week, and although I didn't think I had anyone coming at that time, I thought maybe I'd forgotten.
Hello?
This is UPS, I've got a parcel for Laura Melton.
WTF? I hadn't ordered anything mailed to this apartment, ever, and my birthday isn't for another month. I went down and signed for the package, which was from Amazon.com, quite large (but light), and marked fragile.
I didn't open it immediately, because I had to tend the meat, but I did eventually remember what must be in the package.
Three years ago, for my college graduation, my brother and his wife gave me a slowcooker future,
to be delivered when I had settled myself in Seattle. I ended up settling in a household that already owned a slowcooker (and almost every other cooking gadget one could want), so I didn't ask to exercise my options
until now. Lori told me the slowcooker had been sent; I just forgot until now.
Thank you, Ralph and Lori. I'm sure it will be wonderful, power LED and all.

The idea of a "slow cooker option" is quite wonderful.
