Acme it is

Fri, 7 Oct 2005

Not wanting any nasty surprises, I asked my new employer if there's a policy about blogs. The reply was that there isn't a specific policy but that the company prefers to remain anonymous in all publications unless authorized by their marketing department. I am not to mention their name or specifics about the company, employee names, products, etc.

This means, of course, no blogging about anything even remotely work-related. Oh well; I regret but accept the restriction. Technically I suppose I could just limit access to posts about my work, but I am not keen to rely on a plugin for that duty. Therefore my employer will remain Acme. I don't expect that I will refer to it much.

I would also appreciate it if those blogger-friends who know the true name of my employer would keep it to themselves.

I will, however, reveal that I am moving to the San Francisco Bay area. I'll miss Seattle, but I haven't lived anywhere for this long (three years) since I was 16. It's time for a change.

Update: Changed my mind. I don't want a cease-and-desist letter from Warner Bros. either, so I'll just call the company MPOW if I must.

Its just too funny that you're leaving Seattle. I started reading your blog when I was searching for blogs written by folks in the Puget Sound area. My husband and I are in the process of moving to that area (he's currently there living in Kent while I'm back in Florida). I loved your hiking photos and they kept me inspired to leave the only home I ever knew and I loved learning about the area. Thanks so much and congrats on the new job!

Strangely http://www.acme.com haven't ever had cease-and-desists.
