In other news…

Dell is perhaps not quite as awful as they could be. After I ordered a new power supply on Nov. 4, they emailed me on Nov. 10 (by which time I had expected the power supply to arrive) to say that they estimated it would ship on Nov. 17. Cue unhappy Laurabelle, who nevertheless had no alternative than to wait impatiently, because no one else apparently sells the right power adapters. Then on Nov. 16 Jeff called me at work to inform me that the prodigal adapter had already arrived; Dell had shipped the thing the day before and sent it overnight to compensate for the delay. Delilah is now up and running (and no worse for her vacation), but I am still peeved at Dell.

Work is going well. The first week was incredibly tiring, and I am quite grateful to Jeff for taking care of the apartment, preparing food, and doing all the dishes while I went to work and came home and slept and went to work, and so on through the week. All I did at home was eat and sleep; I had no energy for anything else.

The second week was much better, possibly because I had recognized (and thus partially nullified) some of the things that were weirding me out the first week. Unfortunately my boss was out almost all week, so a significant portion of my scheduled training could not take place. She had planned to take Tuesday and Wednesday off but was felled by a bug that led her to leave early on Monday and kept her out for Thursday and Friday as well.

On the other hand, on Friday I accomplished an hour of what might generously be termed RealWork. Go me.
