Car and chairs

Mon, 30 Jan 2006

The car went into the shop on Friday a week ago; of course the mechanic didn't find any problems. We drove it over the weekend and took it back in on Monday for some more tests. This time the mechanic tested for key-off draw and found that the car was drawing 75 milli-amps while the car was off (normal is 25 MA mA). Rewiring the alarm apparently solved that problem, so let's hope that was the end of the trouble.

In other news, last night we were filled with happiness and joy, because we had Chairs. Not only Chairs, in fact, but a Lamp and a Dresser as well, from the miracle that is IKEA. For the past few months we had been using folding camp chairs, and said chairs were slowly deteriorating under the steady use. It was delightful to sit down on a nice, flat, correctly-sized chair. I do not believe I will ever appreciate furniture as much as I did yesterday evening.

The lamp was installed in the darkest corner of our living room, which lacks overhead lighting. It is a standing lamp, with a large room-lamp on top and a smaller reading light protruding about halfway down. I am strongly tempted to buy another one for the other end of the couch. The living room is still rather dark.

The dresser is still in potentia. Its assembly requires the use of a hammer, and we decided that our neighbors would not appreciate the noises of hammering at 10pm. But this evening I will have a dresser, and my clothes will no longer live in suitcases and cardboard boxes!

And there was much rejoicing.

Just to be nit-picky, it's mA, not MA. The comment link is there, and I just had to, because the mistake jolted me. MA would be Mega-Amperes, about a million times too big.

Thanks dearie. I thought it looked wrong...

Far be it from me to protest pedantry.
