Buffy

Wed, 30 Aug 2006

For the past few weeks, Jeff and I have been making our way through Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We have now finished the second season.

We have been getting our fix through Netflix, obviously, but after watching I Only Have Eyes for You we knew that we would have to own Buffy at some point. So why wait? I ordered the complete Buffy from Amazon; it's only $5 per DVD. Never mind that there are 40 discs...

I think it may not be a good sign that I have started to dream about the Buffy-verse. Last night I dreamed that Giles and I were climbing trees, running away from people (or things), and being upset that the tea we made didn't match the labels on the teabags.

That sounds like a perfectly apt thing for you and Giles to do together.

Holy. Cow. I know the set of which you speak. It comes in a nifty box. I bow to your fiscal commitment. It is especially impressive since (it sounds like) this is your first trip through the Buffyverse.

After Buffy marathons with my former roommate, I used to have Buffy dreams. I think it's common. Your head is just stuffed so full of Buffy, it has to go somewhere, and REM is as good a place as any.

Last, there's a certain point in S4 where you may want to start Netflixing Angel. They do some nice crossovers provided that you watch in airdate order.

Laurabelle says:

Angel is already in my Netflix queue. Thanks for the tip though; I will make sure we watch the episodes in airdate order (provided that Buffy and Angel aren't afflicted with the Firefly curse of network execs shuffling the episodes).

You're right, this is our first trip throuth the Buffyverse; both Jeff and I missed Buffy and Angel on TV and are just now experiencing the joy that is TV on DVD.

As for fiscal commitment, Jeff and I split that between our allowances. (Yes, we have allowances for personal, frivolous expenditure.) Last Christmas, Jeff's brother Jim showed us a few Firefly episodes, and we were hooked. Even before we had a DVD player, I bought Firefly and Serenity. Buffy is merely the next step in our relationship with Joss Whedon's works.

Ooh, excellent choice! I love Buffy. I've caught a couple of the reruns in the last month on FX after not having seen it for three years, and I was blown away all over again at how great it is.

The fifth and sixth seasons are my favorites, although I know several people who would disagree. :)

Stephen says:

Welcome to the fold.
