		<description>Hi, I found this entry while looking for an image of the Hans Cranach, and thought I&#039;d share what I know about the topic.

First, Hans Cranach is the oldest son of Lucas Cranach the Elder. He was trained by his father and worked in his workshop almost all of his short life. Lucas the Elder and Lucas the Younger, his younger brother, were both artists and powerful Protestant politicians, working in connection with Martin Luther.

The subject of Judith and Holofernes was among the most popular for portraits during that time. To be painted as Judith showed power and Godly devotion.
