As I explained in a blog entry, I don't really see the point of an about me page, but for those of you who are interested, here's a bit of background about me.

Brief biography

My name is Laura (Melton) Frasca. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but I have not really lived there since I was 16. That was when I left to be an exchange student in France for a year. I finished up my last year of high school in Texas and then left for college. Those four years were also broken up by a year-long study-abroad excursion to Hamburg, Germany. My undergraduate majors were European Studies and German Cultural Studies. I spent the next two years in the MLIS program at the University of Washington and graduated in June 2004.

My life up to and through college is detailed on my undergrad website. On that site there's a page of photos up to the year 2000 as well as my Hamburg online journal. In grad school I created a professional-ish site. (Those pages used to be on the UW student servers, but since I've graduated, I no longer have that webspace.)

What I do

Since November 2005 I have been employed as a systems librarian in the San Francisco Bay area. Previously I worked for the King County Library System (near Seattle, Washington) from April 2003 until July 2005, also in a systems librarian capacity.

My interests include librarianship, computer geekery (most Linux, programming, and Web stuff), hiking, and knitting. I blog about whatever catches my fancy and seems moderately interesting. I'm not interested in being a very popular blogger; I have a small circle of friends who read my blog, and that's fine by me.
