Last weekend Jeff and I went to an event in Stromgard, which is in Washington but much closer to Portland than to Seattle. It's also a fairly rural area, which gave it a very different feel from Madrone events. It was... interesting. I attended two classes, one on tourney cooking (by Anne-Marie, recently Baroness of [...]

Fibers and fighting
This weekend Jeff and I went to a wonderful SCA event, A Celebration of Chivalry and Mostly Fibers Too. Basically it was fighting activities plus lots of fiber arts classes, which was great for both Jeff and myself. I spent all day Saturday learning to tat and spin and sew, and Jeff heralded for two [...]

Peasant’s Revel 2004
Today Jeff and I went to the Madrone Peasant's Revel, which was a blast even in the light rain. The festivities included traditional peasant games such as cheese rolling, Wet Rag on a Stick, Clench a Wench, and cabbage ball, all of which were at least as much fun in the rain as in the [...]

Refresh
Jeff and I never did manage to go hiking on Friday, but last weekend was great anyway. In fact, the whole week was great. Jeff accompanied me to work on Wednesday afternoon, which was pretty uninteresting. Thursday I tried to get us organized enough to get everything done and have a good night's sleep before [...]

The Commoner King
Yesterday evening Jeff and I went to the debut performance of a play called The Commoner King, written by two SCA members named Owen the Merry and Finn au Neill. We went because it was supposed to be funny, and because there was a feast beforehand and I wanted to use my new feast gear [...]

No bleeding on the field
This is going to be a slightly brief, sum-up entry, because I haven't got too much time today. I would have written earlier this week, but I didn't have time then either. I was too busy with school and work and keeping Jeff sane to write anything at all this week, although I was tempted [...]

Lionheart’s Tourney
This weekend was the Barony of Madrone's annual Lionheart's Tourney, where this year's champions (heavy, rapier, and archery) were chosen and much fun was had. I went, not only because other Bunnies were going but because Dieter is stepping up as Baronial Herald, which meant that he was also stepping down as Seneschal of St. [...]

Spring Fling
Yesterday was one of Bunstable's annual events, Spring Fling. It was a rather small but fun event, outdoors near the Waterfront Activities Center. TE Fiach and Anne-Marie were there, and there was baronial court to award the Light of St. Bunstable to this year's recipient (Gordon Redthorn) and to declare next year's Protector of St. [...]

Lady of the dance
I just got home from the St. Bunstable/Porte de l'Eau Day of Dance/Winter Maskerade. It was smashing fun. I put on my plain garb at home, fixed my hair for the evening, and wore it on the bus, complete with draped headdress, which drew funny looks from bus drivers and other mundanes. I think they [...]
