This weekend was not terribly illustrious. The ASIS&T Pacific Northwest Chapter Annual Conference was on Friday and Saturday, but I only went to the Saturday morning sessions because I was too energy-less on Friday. I wouldn't even have gone on Saturday morning, I think, if I hadn't said I would volunteer. I'm glad I went, because the presentations were interesting (especially Misty's talk about internationalization of websites, software, and other interfaces).

King Leer
I have a strange relationship with King Lear. A few years ago I read it in conjunction with Oedipus Rex and found that in comparison, Shakespeare's play was positively uplifting. Now I'm much less convinced.
Yesterday evening, Jeff and I attended a preview performance of King Lear by the Seattle Shakespeare Company, invited by Jeff's friend Charley (whose errant typography inspired the title of this entry). I don't pretend to be a theater critic, but in my opinion, the performance was stunning in all regards.

The Commoner King
Yesterday evening Jeff and I went to the debut performance of a play called The Commoner King, written by two SCA members named Owen the Merry and Finn au Neill. We went because it was supposed to be funny, and because there was a feast beforehand and I wanted to use my new feast gear (thanks Dad!), but it was much more than that as well. It was hilarious, true, but it also has real characters, and it makes a fairly SCA-political argument about the nature of honor and duty.
